This mighty tree � a
symbol of English strength � which supports in its� branches up to 500
forms of life, begins its� own life as a tiny acorn.
There is a wonderful charitable organisation which has taken the acorn
as its� own symbol and also supports in its� branches equally as many
people who are less fortunate than ourselves � with life-limited
children being its� main focus of attention.
It is a Midlands based
group of children�s hospices known simply as �
THE
ACORNS TRUST
The Acorns
Trust cares for children who have a life-limiting condition and who are
unlikely to live to adulthood because there is no cure available.
Their support is given to children and their families, regardless of
race, religion or individual circumstances.
In spite of their wonderful efforts, provided mostly by volunteers, the
unfortunate fact is that out of the hundreds in their care an average
of one child dies every week.
Less than 10% of the money they need to provide this support comes from
Statutory Public Sources and since they spend in excess of �10 million
per year they need all
the help they can get.
