THE A.D.I. THEORY TEST

For those who have ambitions to become an Approved Driving Instructor, otherwise known as an A.D.I, they will have to pass a series of three tests set by the Driving Standards Agency. Full details of these tests and relevant information can be found elsewhere on this site by following the link to The Road To Becoming An A.D.I.

The first of the tests in the series is the ‘A.D.I. Theory Test’.It covers all aspects of driving including the Rules of the Road contained in the Highway Code, Laws and Statutory Requirements, Car Maintenance and Instructional Techniques & Practices.
It consists of 100 multiple choice questions which have to be completed in 90 minutes and requires a minimum pass mark of 85%. Due to the unique banding system used in the assessments even this may not be enough and only by achieving a mark of 95% can you be guaranteed a pass.
The test therefore is not easy and it should not be taken lightly if unnecessary loss of expensive entrance fees is to be avoided. You will need all the help you can get to ensure success. You can never be too well prepared.
With this in mind Drivers World has compiled an extensive question bank which is designed to assist you in your studies. It is emphasised that these are not the actual questions you will be faced with on the official test, but they are typical.

They are provided for use as a learning tool. The answers to the questions should be found by searching the various reference books which are recommended by the D.S.A.

The following titles contain all the information that you will need :

The question bank has been divided into seven sets of 100 questions each to simulate what you will be faced with on the official test. You can download each set individually to research at your leisure.

When you have completed each set the answers are provided which can be used to assess your results. Why not try one out. You will undoubtedly find it of great benefit in pursuit of your full A.D.I. licence.

There are a further two sets of Mock Test sheets, also comprising 100 questions each. They can be used in the same way, but have the additional feature of the results being ‘Banded’ just as they are in the official test.

To give you a flavour of what to expect Drivers World has provided a FREE A.D.I. Theory Test Taster comprising 20 typical questions in the same format as the official test. Why not give it a try and see how you get on? You could surprise yourself and find you have an aptitude for driving theory you were not aware of. You may even consider the pursuit of an A.D.I. licence a worthwhile and very profitable idea.

The Theory Test Taster was FREE and 12 or more correct answers indicates you did well enough to warrant further investigation, or you may simply see it as another tool to help you in your quest for a full A.D.I. licence.

However, the preparation of the entire question bank involved a great deal of time and research and in an effort to recoup some of the costs incurred by Drivers World and to help with the running and ongoing development of the site a nominal charge for each set of questions has to be made.

A charge of £3 will therefore be made for each set of 100 questions. You may download one set at a time and build them into a ring binder, or take all seven sets at once for the reduced price of £17.50. When you consider the huge fees charged by organisations providing A.D.I. training this really is a drop in the ocean and could prove to be a very worthwhile investment.

The two ‘Mock Tests’ will be charged for at the same rate of £3 each, but for obvious reasons they are only available on-line where they can be timed and assessed objectively. This is a very worthwhile experience and a unique opportunity to get good practise for the real thing.

Just as a point of interest it is worth noting that Drivers World contributes a percentage of any revenue raised in the operation of this site to an organisation of children’s hospices based in the U.K. For more details on this see the link to ‘Quercus Robur’.
