Books
Many books have been written on the subject of
learning to drive - both from the learners’ and instructors’ point of
view. Just have a look at the DRIVERS WORLD
Bookshelf
and you will see almost everything available on the subject.
Even the most conscientious pupil will not want, or even need, to read
them all.
However, there are a few which are almost essential
and a good instructor should encourage pupils to read them if they want
to have a better chance of passing the various tests.
Not only should the instructor provide this
encouragement, but should also provide the actual books. This is sound
business practice and has several benefits.
1.
The books can be purchased in small bulk quantities on the
Internet from the likes of
AMAZON
with good discounts and resold to the pupil at the retail price. Thus
providing the instructor with a small, but useful, extra source of
revenue.
2.
The pupil does not have the problem of chasing around trying to
find them in the shops and will again be grateful for the good service
you are providing.
3.
A pupil is more likely to actually buy and read them, and benefit
from them, if they are so easily available. Thus making your job a
little easier.
These days there are an equal number of VCR tapes
and DVDs available which supplement visually the content provided by
books. They can be an extremely useful teaching aid which younger pupils
will more readily use as an alternative to reading a book. These are
also available through
AMAZON
and can be sold on to pupils in the same way.
For details of the required reading see the
